How it works
- One tile is a slightly different shade. Click it.
- Correct picks advance a level. The grid grows and the difference shrinks.
- Three mistakes or 60 seconds ends the test. Your record is the level you reached.
About this test
Human eyes are especially sensitive to brightness. Under good conditions we can tell apart a 1 to 2 percent lightness difference. This test hides one slightly lighter or darker tile among identical ones and narrows the gap each level. Passing level 20 puts you in the top 40 percent, level 30 in the top 5.
Colour discrimination is genuinely assessed in design, photography, printing and cosmetics. Screen brightness and ambient light affect it, so sit square to the screen in soft, even light.

FAQ
Is it unfair to colour blind people?
The test uses lightness, not hue, so red-green colour blindness is not a big disadvantage. It is not a colour blindness diagnostic.
Does the monitor matter?
Yes. Brightness, gamma and viewing angle all matter. Face the screen directly and turn off night mode.
Can I train it?
A little. Practice adds 2 to 5 levels of technique. Your eyes themselves do not change.
