How it works
- Press start. The screen turns red. Wait.
- The moment it turns green, click or tap as fast as you can.
- Your score is the average of 5 rounds. Click too early and that round restarts.
About this test
Reaction time is the delay between your eyes seeing a signal and your hand moving. The human average is around 250 to 270 ms. Trained esports players and athletes reach the 150 ms range. Below 100 ms is close to physically impossible, which is why sprinters who leave the blocks within 100 ms of the gun are called for a false start.
This test measures simple visual reaction time. Five rounds are averaged so a single lucky click does not decide the result. Your time becomes a percentile and points that feed into your Human Spec series score.

- Sport: table tennis, badminton and hitting a baseball all happen inside 0.2 to 0.4 seconds.
- Everyday: grabbing a tipping cup or holding an elevator door uses the same reflex.

Does my monitor or mouse change the result?
Yes. A 60Hz monitor refreshes every 16.7 ms, a 144Hz one every 6.9 ms. Wired mice and high refresh rates typically shave 5 to 15 ms. Compare against yourself on the same setup for the most honest trend.
Can I get faster?
Somewhat. Studies link action games, regular exercise and good sleep to faster reactions. Fatigue, alcohol and sleep loss slow you down noticeably.
Does it slow down with age?
Reaction time peaks in the mid 20s and slows by roughly 2 to 6 ms per decade after that. Differences between individuals are larger than differences between ages.
